The Lich King is a central antagonist in the World of Warcraft franchise, first appearing in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002). Initially, the Lich King was Ner'zhul, an orcish shaman whose spirit was trapped within the Frozen Throne by the Burning Legion.
Arthas Menethil, a human prince of Lordaeron, eventually becomes fused with the Lich King. In his quest to stop the encroaching undead Scourge, Arthas is corrupted by Frostmourne, a cursed runeblade. This corruption leads him to merge with Ner'zhul, becoming the new Lich King.
As the Lich King, Arthas commands the Scourge from Icecrown Citadel, wielding immense power over death and the undead. He seeks to plunge Azeroth into eternal darkness, making him a major threat to the world. A Pad Printed minifigure version of the Lich King Arthas Menethil also appears as a collectible item.
